Hearst Tries a New iPad Pitch: “Read Them Here First”

Looking for a reason to buy an iPad edition of a magazine? Hearst hopes this will do the trick: Readers who buy the publishers’ titles from Apple’s Newsstand will get them before anyone else — on or offline.

This feature appears to have popped up today, and there doesn’t seem to be any other details about the offer, like the number of days in advance that Newsstand buyers will get their iPad editions. I’ve asked Hearst for more information....

Cosmopolitan Exceeds 100,000 Paid Digital Subscribers

Cosmopolitan, the No. 1 selling monthly magazine on newsstands, today announced it is the first Hearst Magazines brand to surpass 100,000 paid individual subscribers for its digital edition, which is available on Apple, Zinio, Barnes & Noble and Amazon Kindle newsstands. Cosmopolitan was an early adopter of offering digital editions to consumers on all tablets and e-readers, selling initially on the Zinio platform as early as 2005.
