Editor’s Note: ‘Green’ Publishers to Be Recognized—Call for Nominations Deadline Approaching (Jan 21)
January 2008
SustainPrint.com—the Web site for environmental sustainability in printing and publishing, co-produced by Publishing Executive and Book Business magazines—is accepting nominations for its second-annual SustainPrint.com Awards. The deadline for nominations is Monday, Jan. 21. The awards recognize four publishers each year for their achievements in environmental sustainability. The “Newcomer of the Year” awards are given to one magazine and one book publishing company that have recently implemented significant environmental sustainability policies. The “Longtime Leader” awards recognize one magazine and one book publishing company that have a history of environmentally conscious publishing practices.
“We established the SustainPrint.com Awards because we believe that publishers who have taken steps to improve their environmental impact deserve recognition for their leadership in this area. They serve as role models and inspiration for other publishers seeking to change their companies’ policies to become more environmentally responsible,” says Noelle Skodzinski, editor-in-chief of Publishing Executive and Book Business.
In 2007, the SustainPrint.com Awards recipients were Fast Company magazine, the National Wildlife Federation, Random House and Lantern Books.
To nominate a publishing company for the 2008 SustainPrint.com Awards, e-mail the company’s name and a description of the company’s efforts in environmental sustainability to Noelle Skodzinski at NSkodzinski@NAPCO.com with the subject line “SustainPrint.com Awards Nomination.”
Recipients of the 2008 SustainPrint.com Awards will be honored during a special reception at the 2008 Publishing Business Conference and Expo (March 10-12) in New York City and featured in Publishing Executive and Book Business magazines, as well as on SustainPrint.com.
