Hallmark Magazine Shuts Its Doors
February 27, 2009
Hallmark announced its decision to shutter Hallmark Magazine and its accompanying Web site this week, despite its rising rate base and ad sales in 2008. Thirty-eight positions will be eliminated as the magazine's February/March issue marks its final one.
A statement from the magazine's editors on its Web site read: "Over the last three years and 16 issues we have done our best to create a magazine that would help you appreciate life’s meaningful moments. We will miss you."
Hallmark launched in 2006 with a rate base of 400,000. The company had said this number had recently doubled. There are no plans to continue the magazine online or as a digital edition.
