A Map of the World's Newspapers

In my never-ending pursuit of truth, justice and everything cool in publishing, I want to point you to this link for the Newseum Web site. I have had a personal tour of the Newseum in Washington, D.C. by one of the curators, and it is a must-visit for anyone in any section of our industry. I was quite literally blown away by the place, the content, the history and its overall interactivity. They have three floors of wonderful and varied perspectives of publishing. One of the rooms is filled with thousands of newspapers of the past.

"Oh, Bo, you mean like stuff from the 1920s?" Well, yes, they have stuff from the 1920s, but that is very modern history from a journalistic perspective. What I saw was a newspaper that covered the sinking of the Spanish Armada. Now that is journalistic history of the highest order.

So, this link I am sending to you is a map of the world. All you do is drag your cursor over the cities of the world, click on one, and get a full-cover PDF version of today’s newspaper from that town or city in real time. Think about the coordination to pull that off. This is not only a piece of the past; it is a place for the future.
