Daily News Massacre Even Worse Than First Reported
Much has been made of the 45 journalists laid off at the Daily News.
After all, the loss of 50 percent of the newsroom is jaw-dropping.
But that is apparently only half the story.
The pink-slip massacre actually took out a total of 96 employees, Media Ink has learned.
On top of the nearly four dozen reporters, editors and photographers laid off beginning on Monday, the paper’s parent company, Tronc, cut loose dozens of other employees — perhaps back-office staff or victims of other yet-to-be-disclosed layoffs — according to a yet-to-be-disclosed state filing.
