Ad Featuring ‘Taste Technology’ Debuts in People
A new type of interactive print ad will be included in the Feb. 18 issue of People magazine, as Welch’s will debut its use of First Flavor’s “Peel ‘n Taste” flavor strips. Readers will be able to sample Welch’s 100% Grape Juice product thanks to the print ad which will include a thin, tamper-evident pouch with a dissolving taste strip. Welch’s says use of this new “taste technology” in a national ad campaign is a first in the magazine industry.
Readers will be able to remove the edible strip from the ad, place it on their tongues, and sample the taste of the grape juice.
“We are always looking for new technology to bring to both our clients and our 42 million weekly readers,” says Paul Caine, president of Time Inc.’s Entertainment Group. “We are pleased to partner with Welch’s on such a creative, impactful execution.”
First Flavor is a Bala Cynwyd, Pa.-based firm and the creator of the Peel ‘n Taste technology that allows consumers to taste the flavor of a product using a compact, dissolving edible strip packaged in a thin, tamper-evident pouch.
