Active Interest Media Acquires Cabin Life
Yesterday Active Interest Media announced its acquisition of Cabin Life magazine from fellow niche, enthusiast publisher Kalmbach Publishing. The magazine will be combined with AIM's Country's Best Cabins and published under the newly created Cabin Living, now the largest cabin enthusiast brand in the market. It has a combined audience of 150,000.
This is a significant get for AIM's lead generation program, an initiative launched last summer under its timber and log cabin brands. The effort, which Publishing Executive covered in its Winter Issue, helps connect advertisers with qualified Log Home Living, Timber Home Living, and now Cabin Living readers who are looking to build or purchase a cabin. With the acquisition of Cabin Life readers, AIM is able to "fill the top of the lead gen funnel with more names and more email addresses," explains Peter Miller, VP and Publisher of AIM's Home Group. The household income of the average Cabin Life subscriber, adds Miller, is significantly higher than AIM's other cabin enthusiast titles, a fact that should entice more advertisers.
AIM launched the lead generation program last summer and it has been deemed a resounding success, says Miller. "We offer our lead gen, integrated marketing program to advertisers who commit to spend 20% more with us than they did last year," says Miller. "That has led to about $650,000 worth of new advertising revenue across the platform in print, digital, e-news sponsorships, and more."
The Cabin Life acquisition is "good news for our advertisers," concludes Miller. "There's potential for more names, more information, and high value readers to feed through the pipeline."
