APHA launches The Nation’s Health App, an iOS and Android Mobile Edition Developed by Sheridan
(Press Release) Hunt Valley, MD—The American Public Health Association has enlisted The Sheridan Group's services to develop and launch an iOS and Android-compatible app, providing mobile access to The Nation's Health newspaper. Content from the publication can be viewed as full-page expandable images or as individual text articles. The app, which debuted with the September 2011 issue of the newspaper through both Apple and Android app stores, is currently free for all users.
The Nation's Health app features patent-pending Media Deck technology, allowing advertisers to incorporate web content and interactivity into the app simply by inserting a URL into the digital edition. When readers click on the URL, they launch a Media Deck that brings the content into the page - without leaving the app or the publication.
The monthly newspaper of the American Public Health Association, The Nation's Health is a nationally recognized, award-winning source of news for public health professionals.
"The Nation's Health has long been a leader in providing the latest public health news and information," said Michele Late, executive editor of The Nation's Health. "This app allows us to expand our audience and reach new readers through the latest technology. It's easy to use and available for a range of phones and tablets, letting readers bring the newspaper wherever they go."
Sheridan Magazines Digital Services Manager Harry Wilson commented, "Our mission is to empower our customers' communications process. Sheridan Magazines is proud to help the
APHA increase their digital reach as they educate on the vital issues affecting the health of our nation."
Sheridan Mobile Edition Apps are but one in a suite of Mobile products developed and supported though the Sheridan Technology Lab. Others include Sheridan Mobile Alerts, Sheridan Full-Text Apps, Sheridan Mobile ePrints, and Sheridan Print-to-Mobile QR Codes.
