App Watch: A look at what publishers Are Launching in Mobile Apps
The smaller and accessible layout is quick and easy to read, but still delivers the same in-depth features and cutting-edge photography that can be found on the print and iPad versions of the magazine, Moore explains. "The Mag+ software we are using allows us to deliver a much more considered reading experience than a simple website," he says.
In addition to the user-friendly format, new issues of the British Journal of Photography can be downloaded even when there is no Wi-Fi Internet connection available. The app also offers readers a continuously updated photography newsfeed at readers' fingertips. The first issue is free for all users and profiles American photographer Roger Ballen.
Moore says an Android version of the app may be coming next year. The Android audience "doesn't yet seem to be in place enough at the present for us to justify the investment involved," he says.
