B-to-b Ad Revenues, Pages Down in First Quarter
The first quarter of 2008 was a challenging one for the business-to-business magazine industry, according to figures from the Business Information Network (BIN). B-to-b magazine advertising revenues declined 5.3 percent against the same period last year, and just five of the 21 categories tracked by BIN exhibited growth. Ad pages were down 7.3 percent.
B-to-b trade shows did show growth, however, up 1.5 percent from $2.94 billion to $2.98 billion for 2008’s first quarter. Digital revenues also grew.
“Given the state of the economy, the growth of two of our three major platforms continues to encourage us about the future of the business-to-business industry,” says Gordon T. Hughes II, American Business Media’s president and CEO.
