Billian Publishing/Trans World Publishing Makes Appointment
Gayle Hartman was appointed as corporate production manager at Billian Publishing/Trans World Publishing. The position was recently established to assist in evaluating the business model of magazine production at the Atlanta-based organization. Hartman will coordinate and direct all aspects of production for each magazine title, including Art & Antiques, Boating World, Textile Industries and Textiles Panamericanos. She will work with the magazines' production managers in matters of budgeting, quality assurance and streamlining the publication process in regards to advances in printing technology.
The first step initiated by Hartman is two-fold—cost efficiency and imaging quality—by implementing digital CTP printing for Art & Antiques. "As the cost of publishing a magazine continues to rise, it becomes imperative to maximize cost-saving measures such as implementing digital printing," explains Hartman, who joined the staff of Billian Publishing/Trans World Publishing in May of 1999 as production manager for Art & Antiques. She has also recently been named to the Board of Directors to The Magazine Association of Georgia (MAG).
Prior to joining the company, Hartman was production manager at Intertec Publishing. And as a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology, she began her career as a production coordinator with Webco printing.
