BPA Worldwide Freezes Member Rates Through June 2010
BPA Worldwide announced this week a unanimous decision by its board of directors to freeze member dues and audit rates at their July 2008 levels in response to current economic conditions. The freeze will remain in effect through June 30, 2010, the organization told its members.
"Our board is made up of advertisers, agencies and media owners. Every one of us knows full well the difficulties of the current media landscape," said Gaye Sussman, chairman of the BPA's board of directors and president of ID Media. "We view industry-standard audited media as necessary for building the credibility and the health of this industry for the long term. Auditing is simply too important an investment not to make, in this or any other climate. We moved to freeze rates for this reason and hope this relieves some strain on BPA members."
BPA serves more than 1,700 business publications and more than 300 consumer magazines, in addition to a variety of other media properties, advertisers and agencies.
"We were able to hold the line on all our rates for this new fiscal year," said Glenn Hansen, president and CEO of BPA. "… It's important that while we keep rates steady we continue to make investments in our service and in new media channels to maximize the value of the BPA media audit beyond circulation."
