Saint-Jérôme, Québec — Cascades Fine Papers Group's "green mill" in Saint-Jérôme has received the Forest Stewardship Council certification FSC Recycled. This certification authenticates that the product has a 100-percent post-consumer content, taking the whole process into account, from the raw material to the consumers.
"Cascades Fine Papers Group is the first and only Canadian fine paper manufacturer to be awarded the FSC Recycled Certification," noted Denis Jean, president and chief executive officer at Cascades. "It is the result of outstanding teamwork between the management team of the mill in Saint-Jérôme and the team at the de-inking mill in Breakeyville, whose pulp is also certified FSC Recycled."
The Forest Stewardship Council is an international, nonprofit association whose membership comprises environmental and social groups as well as progressive forestry and wood retails companies, working in partnership to improve forest management worldwide.
Cascades FSC Recycled certified products are New Life DP100, Rolland Enviro100, Rolland Enviro Edition100 and Rolland Inspiration Ecofibre. They are available on making orders under certain conditions.
Coveting this certification is a desire for the company to meet market needs and to complete Cascades' offering of ecological fine papers. Cascades also offers other products with various levels of post-consumer content up to 100 percent. Many papers produced by Cascades are also certified EcoLogo (ECP-77) from Environment Canada's Environmental Choice Programme and PCF from the Chlorine Free Product Association (CFPA).
