Condé Nast's Ad Pages Drop by Nearly a Third for 2009
Condé Nast's ad pages plummeted by nearly a third for the year, as the publisher lost more than 8,000 ad pages from 2008 according to estimates it released this week. The news comes just weeks after Condé Nast shuttered Gourmet, Modern Bride, Elegant Bride and Cookie.
Architectural Digest saw ad pages decline 49.9 percent -- the worst among Condé's titles. W's ad pages fell 46 percent, Condé Nast Traveler's declined 41.1 percent and Wired and Details both dropped by about 39 percent.
Glamour did report a slight uptick for the month of December, with a 6.6-percent increase in ad pages. And Traveler and Lucky both saw smaller decreases than the titles had been experiencing for most of the year.
Glamour fared better than any other Condé title for the year, as its ad pages declined just 17.7 percent for the year.
