Cosmopolitan.com Gets a Face Lift
Cosmopolitan.com was relaunched today by Hearst Magazines Digital Media with added functionality, interactive tools, video content and gift guides.
“We wanted to take the aspects of our brand that resonate most with readers -- stories about sex and relationships, advice on hair and beauty, celeb style secrets and our incredibly popular quizzes and games -- and bring them to life online in a new way,” said John Searles, editorial brand director, Cosmopolitan. “Our new site includes everything people loved about the original Cosmopolitan.com and updates it with a fresh, bold, magazine-inspired look. Plus, the new functionality and design make it easier than ever for users to find relevant, original content and interact with other people who are passionate about Cosmo.”
A redesigned navigation bar is among the most prominent changes to the site. The new nav bar will help visitors drill down into the site more accurately. The site will also now include a "Hot Right Now" content category with links that take readers directly to the most popular stories and features. And video will be featured more prominently too, with the new "Promo Player" providing users with a look at the site's freshest content.
"Cosmopolitan.com has experienced significant growth since its launch two years ago, with traffic to our hair and beauty content up by over 65 percent," said Kristine Welker, vice president of sales and marketing, Hearst Magazines Digital Media. "The site has introduced a new, dedicated hair and beauty channel, which provides a unique opportunity for advertisers to engage users and tap into their key interests and personal style. In addition to signing
new advertising partnerships our team has created content tools, such as the 'Expert Advice Gallery' and the new 'Pushdown Ad Unit', to better integrate advertiser messaging and connect with consumers in a contextually relevant environment."
