Deadline for SustainPrint Awards Nominations Extended -- New Deadline: Dec. 31
Publishing Executive and Book Business magazines have announced a call for nominations for the third-annual SustainPrint Awards. The deadline for nominations has been extended until Wed., Dec. 31.
The awards recognize four publishers each year for their achievements in environmental sustainability. The "Newcomer of the Year" awards are given to one magazine and one book publishing company that have recently implemented significant environmental sustainability policies. The "Longtime Leader" awards recognize one magazine and one book publishing company that have a history of environmentally conscious publishing practices.
"The SustainPrint Awards have become highly respected in the past few years. The winners really stand out for the ways they have changed their company policies and practices to become more environmentally responsible," says Noelle Skodzinski, editor-in-chief of Publishing Executive and Book Business magazines. "Most publishers today want to improve their environmental impact, but are still struggling to figure out exactly how they can achieve this goal. So, the SustainPrint winners also serve as role models for the rest of the industry and demonstrate how a significant 'green' commitment can be planned and implemented."
In 2008, the SustainPrint Awards recipients were Every Day With Rachael Ray (published by Reader's Digest Association), Nickelodeon Magazine Group, Scholastic Inc. and Chelsea Green Publishing.
Recipients of the 2009 SustainPrint Awards will be honored during a special reception at the 2009 Publishing Business Conference and Expo (March 23-25) in New York City and featured in Book Business and Publishing Executive magazines.
