DEPARTURES SEPTEMBER ISSUE AD REVENUE INCREASES TEN PERCENT AND PAGING CLIMBS EIGHT PERCENT
NEW YORK, NY (August 21, 2013) - DEPARTURES continues its success as the leading voice of luxury. The magazine's September issue is up ten percent in advertising revenue and eight percent in paging compared to the September 2012 issue, DEPARTURES senior vice president and publisher Steven DeLuca announced today. The issue carries 126 pages versus 117 in the same issue last year and marks the fourth consecutive year of growth for the DEPARTURES September issue as it continues to gain support from the luxury fashion sector.
For the full year, DEPARTURES is up 18 percent in revenue and 16 percent in paging measured against January through September 2012. "The luxury marketplace continues to increasingly depend on DEPARTURES to deliver a qualified audience of the world's most affluent buyers," DeLuca said.
DEPARTURES' robust growth tops the equally strong gains made during the previous three years. In 2014, the magazine will raise its rate base to 920,000, an increase of two percent, effective with the January/February issue. Bonus circulation is also expected to climb. Total circulation for DEPARTURES is at an all-time high of 1,194,749 (based on BPA Publishers Statement for the six-month period ending June 3013) and rising steadily.
Now in its 24th year, DEPARTURES is the only media property delivering affluence without waste - a 100 percent qualified audience of upmarket consumers. Delivered exclusively to the households of 1.2 million Platinum Card® and Centurion® members of American Express, the DEPARTURES reader's average household income is $619,000 (DEPARTURES 2011 --Ipsos Mendelsohn Reader Survey) - far higher than that of any other media property's readership.
"Our continued revenue and paging gains coupled with the decision to increase our rate base is a strong indicator of the health of the luxury industry today and the unparalleled connection we provide advertising partners with our affluent audience," added DeLuca. "Our Editor in Chief Richard David Story curates a premium magazine for readers who are searching for brands and experiences that represent the highest quality in their categories."
