The Atlantic's Elizabeth Baker Keffer Promoted to Senior Vice President/Group Publisher of Live Events for Atlantic Media Company and President of QuartzLIVE
Washington, D.C. (October 12, 2012)—Atlantic Media President Justin B. Smith announced today that Elizabeth Baker Keffer, President of AtlanticLIVE and Vice President of The Atlantic, is taking on the additional titles of President of QuartzLIVE, the events division of Atlantic Media Company's new global business brand Quartz, and Senior Vice President/Group Publisher of Live Events for all of Atlantic Media Company. In her expanded role, Keffer will assume responsibility for building Quartz's global events business. As Senior Vice President/Group Publisher of Live Events, she will be responsible for guaranteeing best practices for live event execution across the firm.

Keffer has built AtlanticLIVE into one of the media industry's most successful events divisions. She and her team have produced hundreds of editorial events around the country, including news-making forums on issues of national importance, such as this year's Economy Summit, featuring Paul Volcker, Robert Rubin, Sheila Bair, and Larry Summers, and the Food Summit, with Martha Stewart and Mario Batali. Keffer spearheaded the development of signature annual gatherings of national and international leaders produced in partnership with the Aspen Institute, such as the Aspen Ideas Festival, which this year included Stanley McChrystal, Pervez Musharraf, and Anne-Marie Slaughter, among many others, and the Washington Ideas Forum, which last year featured Vice President Joe Biden, Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. In 2011, she expanded AtlanticLIVE's focus westward with the launch of The Atlantic Meets the Pacific, a three-day forum in San Diego dedicated to exploring new frontiers in science, health, technology, and energy.

Before becoming President of AtlanticLIVE, Keffer was publisher of The Atlantic and Executive Vice President of Atlantic Media Group, where she oversaw all advertising, marketing, and corporate partnerships at The Atlantic, National Journal, CongressDaily, and Government Executive. Prior to Atlantic Media, Keffer worked for 16 years at the Advisory Board Company and the Corporate Executive Board—two sister companies in the business research and consulting field, where she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, and managed marketing strategy, revenue growth, and international expansion of those firms.
Keffer assumes her new role immediately and will continue to be based in Atlantic Media Company's Washington, D.C. headquarters.
