113 Newspapers with 8.2 Million Circ to Carry New Food Monthly Created in Partnership With Condé Nast Food Titles
(PRESS RELEASE) New York, November 8--A special holiday preview issue of dash, the new monthly food magazine from the publishers of PARADE, will distribute on or about November 10 in 113 newspapers across the country with a circulation of 8.2 million. Monthly distribution begins in February 2011.
“While dash will begin publishing regularly early next year, we decided to ‘whet readers appetites’ with a special holiday issue to capitalize on the enthusiastic response we received from our newspaper partners and advertisers,” says PARADE CEO Jack Haire. “Our aim was to create a distribution network of 100 newspapers--along with their online food pages--focused mainly in suburban markets.” Sixty percent of the magazine’s circulation is focused in B markets, 15% in C, and 25% in A.
dash is designed to complement newspapers’ own food offerings, and by its distribution provides advertisers a broad and unduplicated reach. Newspaper readers represent $14 billion a week of grocery product sales, or 72% of all groceries sold; in addition, 45 million women read daily newspapers and 81% of them do not read other food magazines.
DashRecipes is a network of food related websites that offers a mix of fast and easy recipes. Led by DashRecipes.com, and combining the efforts of Epicurious.com, BonAppétit.com and the food channels of Parade’s newspaper partner websites, DashRecipes delivers quality content and significant reach. Launched in September, DashRecipes reaches 5.7 million monthly unique visitors per comScore MediaMetrix, making it the Web’s third largest food destination.
Under the direction of PARADE Editor Maggie Murphy, dash aims to help busy moms balance the demands of work and family with the daily “dash” to get simple, fast, delicious meals on the table. It marks the first-ever editorial collaboration with Condé Nast, with content provided each month by Bon Appétit, Epicurous.com and Gourmet.
Some of the advertisers in the November 10 special issue of dash include ConAgra, Hershey, Nestlé and Post.
