Press Release: ForeWord Reviews’ 2013 Book of the Year Awards Program Now Open for Submissions.
As a review journal responsible for more than 10,000 sharply-opinionated book reviews, ForeWord Reviews recognizes the importance of legitimate, trustworthy awards programs, and takes that role seriously as as they open registration for the sixteenth Book of the Year Awards competition.
Literary prizes can shape the sales trajectory of new book titles better than any other marketing medium available to publishers. Librarians, booksellers, and readers all make buying decisions with more confidence knowing a book has earned an award from a reputable organization.
In the hyper competitive publishing industry, an awards program created exclusively for small presses offers great opportunity for independent publishers, self-published authors, and university presses. With so many titles being published each year, savvy publishers realize they can build powerful publicity campaigns around a coveted award.
Over its fifteen year history, ForeWord Reviews has worked extremely hard to champion the efforts of independent publishers to a readership of librarians, booksellers, and a growing number of consumers.
The Book of the Year Awards program has lifted the sails of many independently published books that didn't receive the attention they deserved when first released. All the entries in the 60+ categories are culled by a team of editors to a shortlist of finalists.
Those ten titles are then sent to qualified booksellers and librarians across the country for final judging. This unique process also serves to get noteworthy indie books directly in front of book professionals known for their hand-selling prowess.
Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards, as well as Editor's Choice Prizes for Fiction and Nonfiction, will be awarded. The winners of the two Editor's Choice Prizes will be awarded $1,500 each.
The deadline for entering titles published in 2013 is January 15, 2014-103 days from today. Entrants can register here:
