Fairways + Greens Becomes GolfGetaways Magazine
The world of golf travel gets a major marketing boost this winter as Fairways + Greens magazine evolves into GolfGetaways, both in print and online. The first issue under the new GolfGetaways brand hits newsstands and subscriber mailboxes November 6, 2012, with national distribution via subscription, selected golf and resort outlets, and as a GolfGetaways app on both Apple’s iPad and iPhone as well as Barnes & Noble’s Nook. A new web URL, www.playgolfgetaways.com, will also go live at that time.
As part of the golf journalism landscape since 1997 and a member of Quincy, Mass.-based Madavor Media’s family of special interest publications since 2010, Fairways + Greens has expanded its reach from regional to national and continued to hone its focus on golf travel, making this brand change a natural step in the popular magazine’s editorial evolution.
“Avid golfers are explorers by nature, and our readers love to travel to play golf,” says Editor-in-Chief Vic Williams, who helped found Fairways + Greens as a regional golf publication 15 years ago in Reno, Nev. “By evolving into GolfGetaways, we let readers know in clear terms that we’re right there with them, and that we’re committed to producing the best possible stories, photography, video and social media commentary to help them plan their next great golf vacation — whether it’s just a quick drive away or halfway around the world. Over the collective decades we’ve spent discovering and writing about destinations from coast to coast and far-flung places like Ireland, Kenya, Thailand and the South Pacific, we’ve always marveled at the diversity of settings, the quality of courses and accommodations, the wide array of things to do and eat when a round ends … and, of course, all the amazing people we’ve met along the way. And we work hard to bring those experiences and relationships alive for our readers.”
