Great State Publishing Launches Maryland Life
FREDERICK, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 14, 2004--Maryland Life magazine (www.maryland-life.com), a new bimonthly statewide publication from Great State Publishing, LLC, is available today for the first time for subscribers and through select retail outlets.
In addition to the nearly 2,000 households and businesses that subscribed prior to the magazine's launch, Maryland Life's first issue will also have a controlled circulation of 50,000 copies. The magazine projects readership well in excess of 100,000 statewide readers per issue. The inaugural issue includes 128 glossy pages, with a 60 percent to 40 percent editorial to advertising ratio.
"We've worked hard to make this first issue and subsequent issues of Maryland Life an amazing publication that represents our state extremely well," said Dan Patrell, co-publisher and president of Great State Publishing, LLC. "We knew Maryland deserved a great statewide magazine, and I am confident Marylanders will be pleased with, and proud of, Maryland Life."
The inaugural issue of Maryland Life (January-February 2004 publication date) is filled with photographs and articles from some of Maryland's best writers and photographers. Contents include a photo essay on winter in Maryland by Middleton Evans; a feature on the best kept secrets from each of the state's counties and major municipalities; and a photo spread and article on the new Wye Oak desk for the Maryland Governor's office.
"The outpouring of support for a statewide magazine among advertisers and subscribers has been extremely encouraging, reinforcing observations made when we began this venture two years ago. There is a market for a statewide publication in Maryland, and the citizens of this state both deserve, and will embrace, a regional magazine," said Ross Peddicord, Co-Publisher of Maryland Life, and Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Great State Publishing, LLC. "We celebrate a new beginning with the first issue of Maryland Life, but it also marks the culmination of many years of work and planning by a talented and driven team."
