ICIS Folds Pair of American and International Publications Into Single Global Magazine
ICIS, a publisher of information for the chemical and oil industries and a division of Reed Business Information, recently launched its new magazine, ICIS Chemical Business. ICIS combined its American edition of ICIS Chemical Business with its European/Middle Eastern/Asian edition, neither of which will continue to be published, into the new, global ICIS Chemical Business.
“We’ve seen a decline in readership across all magazines in this sector, which demonstrates that none of the current publishers have effectively evolved with the customer needs,” says Christopher Flook, ICIS publishing director. “We are delighted to be able to present our market with a proposition that plays into the strengths of print in the Internet age, providing in-depth market intelligence, analyzing the story behind the news headlines, and delivering a well-designed, thought-provoking magazine that readers want.”
The launch of a new magazine is, according to Global Editorial Director Penny Wilson, a result of a need within the global chemical industry: “As the chemical industry becomes truly global, and booming markets like China are increasingly attracting interest from businesses around the world, it has become vital for us to reflect the global nature of the industry in a single magazine.”
The magazine relies on the contribution of 95 journalists worldwide in locations such as New York, London, Singapore, Shanghai, Mumbai, Paris, Brussels, Houston, Mexico City, San Paolo and Johannessburg, who will provide the magazine with in-depth coverage of key industry issues, according to the company.
ICIS Chemical Business has also launched a Web site, where free trials of the magazine are available.
