Making New Year's Resolutions By Design
Last year was an exciting time for our studio. In 1998, we moved, expanded our staff and changed our name to Malish & Pagonis to reflect our growing partnership.
The previous 12 months proved interesting for our industry, too. Technology has been the greatest change factor and it has impacted us in many ways. CD-ROMs are now part of our daily workflow; we live in a world of gigabytes (and that already feels like not enough); we have finally seen some movement at Apple; and Mac OS 8.5 is now installed on our machines. Of course, we hope Steve Jobs will ensure that this is a return to days of innovation and cutting-edge products, and not a one-shot deal.
But probably the most important way technology has affected us is that it has given us this new medium—called the Web—in which to work. Our clients are clamoring for help, not only in designing visually compelling pieces, but in understanding the Web's place with the rest of their marketing materials. In response to those client needs, we have expanded our expertise.
So even as we reflect back on 1998, we look to the year ahead and have made some resolutions to ourselves and our clients intended to keep us on the cutting edge. Keeping in mind our current clients and those new ones which will come to us this year, we resolve the following:
To lose 10 pounds. (We had to do it—it's on everyone's list!)
We will convince you through experience and expertise that your nephew is not the person who should be designing your Web site.
If you let us do your annual report, we will make your financial statements look good, no matter what happened over the course of the year.
If you work with us, you will finally come to realize that the printing process can actually be a pleasant experience.
