Matchprint Achieves SWOP Certification
Specifications for Web Offset Publications certified Kodak Polychrome Graphics Matchprint virtual proofing system, recognizing it for its ability to produce accurate RGB monitor viewing of CMYK color reproduction.
"Achieving SWOP certification is a major development in addressing the most common concern of printers, advertising agencies and other graphic arts companies," says Nancy Matchey, product manager for Norwalk, Conn.-based KPG. "Combining the Matchprint virtual proofing system's proven color capability with the speed and efficiency of transferring files electronically delivers on the promise and benefits of a fully digital workflow."
Matchprint transports color proofs electronically where production professionals approve or mark up the proof for corrections. The proofing system features an instrumented color calibration process, which ensures consistent color.
Matchprint uses an automated, numerical color science-based measurement process, Matchey says, and ongoing color control methods to meet precise color reproduction.
The SWOP certification process was administered by a SWOP-qualified panel, which viewed and judged Matchprint virtual proofs by comparing the proofs visually with SWOP-certified press sheets, and numerically with data found in KPG's SWOP application data sheet.
Each Matchprint virtual proofing system includes an integrated tool that enables users to measure color bars or patches on screen, and to confirm the proof conforms to color specifications in KPG's Matchprint virtual proof application data sheet.
