mediaIDEAS onPoint: Don't Give Up on Circulation Revenue
This week's mediaIDEAS onPoint chart shows the forecasted change in U.S. magazine publisher advertising vs circulation revenue.
Over the next 10 years, specifically with the growth of e-reading devices like tablets, e-paper, e-readers and smartphones, advertising revenue will become less predominant for publishers than circulation revenue (e.g. selling single copies, subscriptions, apps, articles). In 2020, circulation revenue will represent close to $19 billion, while advertising revenue about $12.5 billion.
