Press Release: Nellymoser & NeoMedia Announce Solution For Migrating From Microsoft Tag to Other Activation Technologies
BOSTON, MA - December 10, 2013 - Nellymoser and NeoMedia Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: NEOM) announced today a solution that will allow a seamless migration from Microsoft Tag to other forms of mobile activations such as QR codes, watermarks, and image recognition (IR). Microsoft Tag, holding an 84% market share in the Top 100 magazines in 2010, has been eclipsed by QR codes, which comprised 68% of all mobile activations in 2012.
The joint solution allows brands, publishers, and agencies to easily migrate from Tag to new mobile activation technologies through one of three options: reconstruction of existing Microsoft Tag information into new activation points; conversion of standard Tag content to fully responsive, cross-device experiences; and integration of scanners or scanning SDKs into branded companion apps or existing apps. Incentive offers are in place until March 31, 2014.
Nellymoser has been the go-to company for innovative print to mobile experiences driven straight-off-the page for both magazine editorial programs and advertising," said Laura Marriott, Chief Executive Officer of NeoMedia. "Our partnership - between two of the industry's pioneers and leaders in mobile marketing - allows us to offer a complete solution based on best practices gathered from both companies' expertise."
Benefits of the combined solution include:
- End-to-end publisher-specific options ranging from sweeps, to sampling to videos;
- Robust reporting with integration into standard analytics platforms, e.g., Adobe, Google;
- Ability to move Tags to QR, Watermarks, and/or Image Recognition solutions; and,
- Branded companion app with built-in universal scanner SDK or free use of NeoReader® which has 40M+ downloads.
"Neomedia is one of the earliest QR companies with the most complete 1D and 2D scanning capabilities. Their large services install base is backed by solid IP ownership," said John Puterbaugh, EVP and Chief Digital Officer of Nellymoser. "Together, the companies offer publishers easy-to-implement and market-proven solutions for moving beyond Microsoft Tag."
