Number 01 in PRINT
In September, for the first time in four years, the United States will be the site of the largest printing, publishing and converting industry trade show in the world. PRINT 01 will take place September 6-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago, sharing a four-year rotation with major international exhibitions in other parts of the world, including DRUPA in Germany and IPEX in the United Kingdom. During the years it is scheduled, PRINT takes the place of the leading U.S. national exhibition, GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO.
This year's PRINT show is expected to attract visitors from more than 100 countries. More than 30 travel agents in 20 nations are organizing group tours to the show, and information is being disseminated through U.S. Commercial Service offices in more than 100 nations. Formal delegations at PRINT are expected to range from the economic powers of the European community, including Russia and Ukraine; the Asian community, including China, India, Japan and Korea; as well as several Latin American nations, including Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
Awaiting all these international and domestic visitors will be the largest and most complete exhibition of printing, publishing and converting technologies staged in the United States since the last PRINT show in 1997.
"PRINT will offer U.S. visitors an opportunity to see many exhibitors who don't routinely display their products in this country," says Regis J. Delmontagne, president of the Graphic Arts Show Company (GASC), PRINT's organizer. "It also offers worldwide visitors a close look at the best new products from American as well as international vendors. And U.S. companies who regularly participate in GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO are taking significantly larger spaces in PRINT 01 because of the opportunity to reach a large international audience."
Vast size and scope
All of these factors combine to drive the quadrennial PRINT show to its extraordinary size and scope, with about twice the exhibit space of the largest GRAPH EXPO and CONVERTING EXPO events. PRINT 01 will occupy the North and South Halls of the McCormick Complex. The South Hall, devoted to presses, pressroom systems, finishing and converting products, will be the largest single hall ever devoted to a printing industry exhibition. Across the McCormick Place Grand Concourse, both levels in the North Hall will offer additional press system and converting displays, along with the year's largest exhibition of digital prepress and prepublishing technologies.
