Press Release: Pacific Standard Adds Two to Masthead: Taylor Le Named Creative Director; Ted Scheinman Joins as Senior Editor
Santa Barbara, CA (June 18, 2015) - Pacific Standard has bolstered its masthead with the announcement of two new hires. Taylor Le joins the title as creative director and Ted Scheinman as senior editor.
"Whether online or at the newsstand, a compelling visual and graphic identity is essential for attracting and connecting with audiences. We welcome Taylor's savvy and sensibility as we explore new ways of communicating complex stories," said Nicholas Jackson, interim editor-in-chief of Pacific Standard.
Le was previously a freelance art director at Time Inc. in New York, where she designed special edition magazine covers and book covers for such titles as People, Fortune, Entertainment Weekly, and Time-Life. She also served as art director at Runner's World and group art director at Source Interlink Media. During her tenure at Source Interlink, she won a Gold and a Silver Ozzie award, helped re-brand and re-design several titles, and was involved in the development of new titles.
"Ted's equal fluency with the language of academia and pop culture will serve us well as we report on original research for a wider audience and as we produce special projects such as our annual 'Thirty Top Thinkers Under 30' package," added Jackson.
Scheinman's essays and reporting have appeared in Aeon Magazine, Cineaste, LA Weekly, Lapham's Quarterly, the New York Times, the Oxford American Quarterly, the Paris Review, Playboy, Slate, the Toast, the Village Voice, and the Los Angeles Review of Books. He was previously web editor and film and theater editor for Washington City Paper. He holds a B.A. from Yale University and is completing a Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Scheinman is the author of the forthcoming Jane Austen Goes to Summer Camp: Dispatches from the Pride & Prejudice Bicentennial.
