Ogden Publications' Mother Earth News Fair Revenue Up 30 Percent
(Press Release) TOPEKA, Kan., Nov. 22, 2011—In a time of continued belt-tightening among consumers, the second annual Mother Earth News Fair in Pennsylvania increased revenues, attendance and exhibitor booths by 30 percent each.
Mother Earth News, the largest and longest-running publication about self-sufficient lifestyles, held the Mother Earth News Fair Sept. 24-25 at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, outside of Pittsburgh.
Organizers welcomed 13,000 attendees to the event, up from 10,000 last year. They came for workshops, vendor demonstrations and booths, family-friendly activities, musical acts, and artisan food tastings. The Mother Earth News Fair features programming about green building and remodeling, renewable energy, real food, organic gardening, green transportation, small-scale livestock farming, homesteading, do-it-yourself projects, natural health, and related topics.
"We took feedback to heart from last year's attendees and made several changes that benefited both exhibitors and attendees," says Andrew Perkins, event director.
Organizers significantly expanded the on-site bookstore space, added more book signings and a satellite bookstore by the keynote stage, opened doors an hour before the first workshops to give attendees time to get to the stages and to shop at vendor booths, and offered businesses new mid-level sponsorship packages.
The Fair also benefited from word of mouth and an expanded marketing presence. After the first event, organizers revamped the Fair website, MotherEarthNewsFair.com, and upped its presence on Twitter and Facebook.
Approximately 160 vendors promoted renewable energy systems, garden plants and supplies, livestock equipment and breeds, natural beauty and cleaning products, home furnishings, property maintenance equipment, and more.
The event's sponsors were Ball Jar, Bon Ami, Central Boiler, Envirolet, Giant Eagle, King Arthur Flour, Organic Valley,Purina, Red Star Yeast, Seventh Generation and Toyota.
In light of the successful year, the Mother Earth News Fair will return June 2-3, 2012, in Puyallup, Wash. The Fair will add a third day in Seven Springs, where it will run Sept. 21-23, 2012.
Sponsorship and exhibitor packages are available for 2012.
