Peter Goldstone Named President of Atlantic Media's Government Executive Media Group
(Press Release) Washington, D.C. (February 22, 2011)—Atlantic Media Company announced today that award-winning publishing executive Peter Goldstone is joining the company as president of Government Executive Media Group—the leading source of information in Washington for federal managers and agency leaders. Goldstone will oversee all aspects of Government Executive's business-to-business product offerings targeting the government market and will preside over a plan for aggressive growth.
Goldstone is one of the country's most accomplished business-to-business executives. Most recently he was president of Hanley Wood Business Media Division and later president of Hanley Wood, LLC, a business-to-business and marketing services company for the design and construction industry, including such brands as Builder and Architect magazines. During his decade there, he strengthened the company's core business while creating new products and presiding over substantial revenue growth. Prior to that, Goldstone was a top executive with Cowles Business Media and its subsequent owner, Primedia Intertec Publishing, where he oversaw a portfolio of 15 titles, including Folio and Direct, and played a leading role in sharply increasing revenues.
Goldstone joins an already-successful Government Executive Media Group management team, led by General Manager Tim Hartman. Under Tim's leadership, Government Executive Media Group had one of its most profitable years ever in 2010 and built a strong digital operation that has seen a 40 percent increase in traffic in the last year. Government Executive is the undisputed must-read for federal agency leaders; 95 percent of the Senior Executive Service subscribe to one of its publications. For administration officials, Government Executive's news outlets and events have become an essential means of communicating with the federal workforce.
Atlantic Media president Justin Smith said, "Peter Goldstone is a powerhouse, with an impressive track record of innovation and growth. We look forward to his strong leadership as we expand Government Executive's digital product and further strengthen its dominant position in the federal government market."
Goldstone comes to Atlantic Media at a time of dramatic growth across all divisions. The Atlantic, which continues to expand rapidly, turned a profit for the first time in memory last year and has seen strong increases in Web traffic, advertising and events revenue. National Journal also made radical changes in 2010, hiring a new staff of top reporters and editors, unifying its newsroom and launching several new products infused with urgency and speed.
"I am thrilled to be joining Atlantic Media Company and look forward to its high velocity growth," said Goldstone. "This is a company that's on the move. It produces important and relevant media products including Government Executive, the leading media, event and marketing portfolio for federal government thought leaders. Government Executive is an impressive platform where digital products and services already represent 50 percent of total revenue. I am excited to join such a top notch team."
Goldstone joins Government Executive Media Group on February 28.
