The forecast is supported by research conducted by research and advisory firm Changewave, showing that Kindle ownership decreased from 68% to 47% among those surveyed, between February and November 2010, while iPad ownership doubled from 16% to 32%. Lost to the Competition
In Q1 2011, The Association of Magazine Media (MPA) member magazines saw a median of 29% advertiser attrition, meaning that magazines lost an average of 29% of advertisers to other magazines during the same time period last year. Advertiser attrition is calculated by dividing the number of advertisers lost in Q1 2011 by the total number of advertisers who bought in that magazine in Q1 2010. An advertiser is considered lost when it bought ad pages in Q1 2010, but bought from another MPA member magazine the following year, thus not including companies which went out of business or stopped buying magazine ad space altogether. Figures could not be found for advertiser attrition in 2010 versus 2009.
