Quebecor World Inks Deal to Print Newsweek's Budget Travel
Quebecor World Inc. this week announced a multi-year agreement to print Arthur Frommer's Budget Travel. The magazine, which has a print run of over 750,000 copies, is published by Newsweek. The deal with Budget Travel marks new business for Quebecor, and the agreement also includes the printing of two annual "Girlfriend Getaways" special issues.
"Growing our business with Newsweek with the Budget Travel title is a significant enhancement of our relationship with this important customer," said Kevin J. Clarke, president of Quebecor World's Publishing Services Group. "Budget Travel has established a growing and leadership niche in the travel publishing market, and in today's economy offers a particularly relevant editorial and advertising service. We look forward to being part of Budget Travel’s future success."
April was a busy month for the Montreal-based printer. A few weeks ago, Quebecor reached an agreement with its creditors, which the company says will allow it to successfully emerge from bankruptcy protection. The printer also announced several major new contracts this month. Boardroom Inc. last week signed a $100 million, multi-year agreement. The deal is "almost entirely new work," according to company spokesman Tony Ross, and represents a more than six-fold increase in Quebecor World's existing business with the publisher.
Quebecor also announced that it will continue to print Forbes magazine, along with other related magazine titles including ForbesLife and ForbesLife Executive Women. The new, multi-year agreement extends a supplier relationship that has been in place for more than 25 years.
