Press Release: Rolling Stone Names Michael Provus Publisher
New York, NY - July 7, 2014 - Rolling Stone announced today that Michael Provus has been named Publisher, effective immediately. Provus has acted as Associate Publisher of Rolling Stone since 2010.
During his time at Rolling Stone, Provus conceived and implemented event and programming partnerships with clients such as Anheuser Busch, Volkswagen, and Bacardi, including major events for the last three Super Bowls. Currently, Provus is working with Gus Wenner, Head of Digital for Wenner Media, on Rolling Stone's first-ever digital film documentary series, Rolling Stone Films. The Patrón Tequila sponsored project will document first-person storytelling from visionaries across music and pop culture and will debut in early 2015.
"Michael is a proven leader at Rolling Stone," said David Kang, Chief Revenue Officer of Rolling Stone and Men's Journal. "With his extensive network and sales expertise, Michael will help us grow the Rolling Stone brand across all platforms."
Prior to joining Rolling Stone, Provus was national advertising director for GQ. He also served for several years as advertising director at Vanity Fair. Earlier in his career, Provus held sales positions at Condé Nast Traveler, Esquire and Dennis Publishing.
Provus succeeds Chris McLoughlin who announced last week that he was leaving Rolling Stone.
