Sheridan Creates Innovative Digital Daily App For The Music Trades
Hunt Valley, MD, April 2012 – Sheridan Magazines’ Digital Services team worked with print and digital customer The Music Trades to create a mobile app that delivered up-to-the-minute trade show news directly to attendee smart phones, iPads and other mobile devices each morning of The NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchandisers). The NAMM Show is an annual trade show that draws nearly 100,000 visitors from around the world. Titled, “Today’s Show News From Music Trades”, the innovative new mobile app not only attracted broad readership each morning of the show, but allowed the publisher to offer cross-marketing strategies in traditional print and digital media that helped contribute to a record-sized print edition that eclipsed 300 pages.
Music Trades subscribers were automatically updated by alerts on their mobile device or by way an email notification. With this unique app, The Music Trades, a 100% paid trade magazine continuously published since 1890, was able to bring late-breaking news to the NAMM show’s 95,000 attendees and to Music Trades readership via a Dynamic Edition and on iPad, iPhone or Android devices.
Paul Majeski, Publisher and third generation co-owner of The Music Trades, said, “We can take credit for the idea. However, it was Sheridan’s digital team that did all the heavy lifting and brain-stormed all the logistics that went into creating the app, getting it on iTunes and building a workflow that got this great publication on mobile devices every morning of the show. We could
not have found a more competent, proactive and enthusiastic partner to help launch this new publication.”
Sheridan Magazines Digital Services Manager, Harry Wilson, commented further. “It was truly rewarding to work with The Music Trades on such a timely and innovative technology offering. We look forward to discovering new and creative ways to bring content to our customers’ audiences.”
