SNOW Magazine Teams Up with U.S. Olympic Committee to Help Athletes
(Press Release) Aspen, Colo., March 22 2012―Bonnier Corp.’s SNOW magazine has partnered with the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) to host the first Silver Rush mobile cocktail party and Silver Queen Ball gala events on tonight, March 22 in Aspen, Colorado. Proceeds from the events will benefit U.S. athletes training for the Olympic and Paralympic teams and help send them to the summer and winter Olympic Games.
“From the very beginning of SNOW, we’ve brought readers the stories of our Olympic heroes,” said SNOW Editor-in-Chief David K. Gibson. “It’s fitting — and very, very exciting — to be helping them in their quests in a more tangible way.”
Evan Lysacek, figure-skating gold medalist at the 2010 Winter Olympics and recipient of the 2010 USOC Sportsman of the Year award, and Nate Holland, X Games gold medalist and two-time Olympic snowboard-cross athlete, will appear as special guests at the Silver Queen Ball. Mark Jones, director, communications for the USOC, will be the evening’s emcee and will host an athlete Q&A panel discussion. A special showing of the U.S. Olympic video The Team Behind the Team will be made during the event.
The Silver Rush event will include seven stops, each of which will feature food from Aspen’s most exclusive restaurants along with signature cocktails and wine pairings. The Silver Queen Ball will honor Olympic athletes past and present for their dedication and commitment as they prepare for the upcoming Summer Olympic Games in London.
“It’s incredible to see so many in the Aspen community step up to support these athletes,” said Barbara Sanders, publisher of SNOW. “It really drives home the point that we are the team behind the team.”
The Silver Rush will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., with the Silver Queen Ball running from 9 p.m. to midnight at the Baldwin Gallery. The post-ball party will take place at the Caribou Club beginning at midnight. Admission includes a limited-edition Buccellati Aspen silver leaf pin. Gift bags from USOC will be provided.
