Source Interlink's Motor Trend Rolls Out New Version of Google TV App
The app has seen over 30,000 installs since it went live in late May. Motor Trend is one of the leading brands in automotive publishing with a readership of 7 million and international recognition.
The Motor Trend Google TV App allows audiences to watch their preferred automotive shows in high definition with enhanced user interface. Viewers can toggle between shows and tag favorites for later viewing. Detailed descriptions are offered for each program. Floyd describes the structure of the app as, “basically nine separate sections, eight episodes and then our extra section where we have all of our great archive video editorial.”
“Each show has its own specific channel you can click on, share on Facebook or Twitter and also save to your favorites folder to look at later,” he said, engaging consumers and creating a form of social media-connected television. Additional links are also provided for viewers who are interested in obtaining content related to the particular program they’re watching
Motor Trend videos are also promoted in print, on iPad apps, on all Motor Trend’s mobile and social channels, and on the motortrend.com site. This “symbiotic relationship” Floyd describes between the videos, print magazine and website comes from the brand-focused approach Motor Trend has developed. Through this relationship, Motor Trend’s many videos are used to promote, “what we are doing in the magazine and website and who we are as Motor Trend,” states the digital director.
