TheDailyMeal Leaves Beta on the Table
(Press Release) New York, NY (December 22, 2010)—Now a fixture on the food media menu, TheDailyMeal.com celebrated its first quarter of operation, after hitting several key audience and editorial benchmarks, by shifting out of Beta Dec. 23. The site, headed by Saveur founder Colman Andrews and heralded for its all-things-food mission, has simultaneously and consistently grown its readership and content offerings over the past three months.
Since launching in October, TheDailyMeal has seen week over week traffic growth of 100 percent or higher, as more readers flock to the Web portal's unique approach, which centers on five channels: Eat, Drink, Cook, Entertain and Travel.
"Despite entering a crowded category, TheDailyMeal stands alone in terms of its award-winning editorial team, comprehensive offerings and a style that mirrors the evolving interests of food lovers nationwide," said Jim Spanfeller, President & CEO of Spanfeller Media Group, publishers of TheDailyMeal. "With a robust editorial vision and a strong response from our community, it is clear that TheDailyMeal is on the right course."
TheDailyMeal, which features articles, videos, recipes, interviews and reviews, serves as both a source of high-quality original journalism and a resourceful aggregator for surfers looking for the best content from across the Web. Most recently, TheDailyMeal rolled out restaurant tear sheets and city landing pages in the Eat section. In addition to the most up-to-date features on local food scenes in 12 high-interest dining cities, users now also have access details like location and menus for over 4,000 restaurants around the country. These latest enhancements complete the basic mission statement of the site.
"We have lofty traffic goals and know we must work very hard to continue to achieve them but, that said, I am extremely happy with our initial reception," added Spanfeller.
TheDailyMeal.com covers all the food that's fit to eat, creating a complete food experience for cooks, food lovers, wine connoisseurs, discerning diners and everyone in-between. With original content from staff, industry insiders, tastemakers and the user community, features include restaurant and chef reviews, information on wine and cocktails, insight into seasonal ingredients, food travel recommendations and home entertainment advice, as well as a robust cooking section with techniques and recipes to suit any palate and every occasion. The site is headed by editorial director Colman Andrews and is the first property of Spanfeller Media Group, founded by Jim Spanfeller.
