Sports Illustrated Launches Content Aggregator for Sports Fans
Sports Illustrated recently launched mySI, a free, customizable, downloadable application that allows sports fans to access up-to-the-minute online news stories about their favorite NFL teams right on their desktops. The tool, which launched Aug. 30 alongside the magazine’s “NFL Preview” issue, uses a content aggregator developed by Sports Illustrated that allows users to link to relevant stories about their teams.
MySI includes a ticker displaying breaking sports news, the ability to search for news on a specific player, an injury tracker and more.
The application—the first of its kind for sports enthusiasts—is sponsored by Comcast, Miller Lite, Nissan and Radio Shack, and is available for download on SI.com.
Sports Illustrated says additional content for fans of baseball, basketball and college sports will be available in 2007.
Hallmark Enters Women’s Magazine Market with First Title
Hallmark Cards Inc. introduced another title into the crowded women’s lifestyle market with its premiere issue of Hallmark Magazine, which hit newsstands on Aug. 21. The magazine aims to help women connect with the things and moments that affect them most in their everyday lives.
Lisa Benenson, the magazine’s editor in chief, says its content will set it apart from other women’s titles. “Once this magazine is in readers’ hands, they’ll notice the obvious difference between this and others in the category, and will realize they have never read or seen anything like it before,” she says.
Nancy Small, president of Hallmark publishing, says the decision to launch the company’s first
publication was an easy one. “People truly trust Hallmark to help them express themselves, celebrate life’s seasons and events, and connect with the people who matter most,” she says. “Hallmark is an iconic American brand that ranks in the top
2 percent of all brands, and Hallmark Magazine is a natural extension of that brand.”
