Time Inc., Getty Images Launch LIFE.com
Time Inc. and Getty Images have partnered to jointly launch LIFE.com, the companies announced this week. The site will provide access to what the companies call the "most comprehensive iconic and professional photography collections available anywhere online." More than 10 million images will be available with thousands more added on a daily basis.
"LIFE.com brings together the two most-recognized brands in photography, making the defining images of our times even more accessible to people everywhere," said Jonathon Klein, co-founder and CEO of Getty Images. "We are thrilled to partner with Time Inc. on the launch of this exciting new venture."
The site will offer visitors access to thousands of new photographs each day that will be uploaded from Getty Images. Consumers will also have access to more than 10 million images from LIFE magazine, including historic photos that were published in the magazine from the 1930s through the 1990s.
"Image search is the fastest-growing type of online search, and LIFE.com will satisfy the public's desire for quality and relevant imager through a visually pleasing and easy-to-browse Web site," says Andy Blau, president of LIFE and SVP of Time Inc.
