Time Inc. Ups Podcast Investment, Announcing 12 New Series for 2016 & 2017
Time Inc. announced at the 2016 Podcast Upfront -- a one-day IAB event in which media companies showcase their upcoming podcasts -- that it will launch 12 new podcasts in 2016 and 2017. Massive audience demand has led to the growth of podcasts at a variety of publishers, and Time Inc. is no different. The magazine publisher shared during its Upfront presentation that Time Inc. reaches 3 out of 4 adults that have listened to a podcast and that 85% of Time Inc.’s audience have downloaded a podcast.
Sports Illustrated, Time, Entertainment Weekly, and Essence will all launch new podcasts in the coming months. Some of these podcasts expand on existing special issues, like Entertainment Weekly’s “What to Watch” podcasts, which builds on the magazine’s annual Fall TV Preview issue. Other podcasts extend popular columns like Sports Illustrated’s Monday Morning Quarterback by Peter King. Time Inc. will release three new podcasts that expand on topics explored in the column and feature exclusive interviews.
