Vanguard Media Names New Publisher
Vanguard Media appointed P. Robert Massey Publisher of Impact Weekly and National Director of Music & Entertainment. Massey will be responsible for executing initiatives that support brand extensions, as well as expanding relationships with urbane radio, retail and recording industries. As National Director of Music and Entertainment, Massey will manage music advertising for all print and Internet properties, including four magazines and several online sites.
Massey was formerly Director of Brand Promotion at Vibe magazine, where he assisted in developing non-traditional revenue opportunities. He directed the three-city Bacardi Limon Show Tour and Vibe Live, the largest Black Music Month celebration in the United States.
Massey also held positions at record labels including Priority Records, Tommy Boy Music and Red Ant Entertainment. He also worked with Billboard Music Group to launch R&B Airplay Monitor and Rap Sheet, the world's first hip-hop newspaper.
Vanguard Media creates and distributes media for the urban marketplace. The company owns Honey, Heart & Soul, Impact Weekly and Savoy, as well as manages the Impact Super Summit.
