How can publishers use artificial intelligence to transform their publications and stand out in a noisy digital world? Boomtrain CEO and co-founder Nick Edwards and UpOut UpOut CEO Sam Ho said publishers must have clear objectives and collect the right kinds of data about individual users and content in order to implement AI successfully.
During the webinar “7 Steps to Get Started With Artificial Intelligence,” Ho explained how UpOut implemented AI to send its subscribers content personalized to their interests. The publisher manages a website and newsletter that alert subscribers to upcoming events in their area. Ho explained that the company’s AI goal was to personalize its emails, based on reader location and interest, in order to increase opens, clicks, and sell more event tickets. In the following video Ho explains how the publisher broke down its audience and content data so that its AI tool could learn about readers’ preferences.
