Springer Announces Impact Factor Increases for Journals in 2012

New York / Heidelberg, 10 July 2013 - Thomson Reuters recently released its Journal Citation Reports® (JCR) for 2012 and, among those journals receiving a first-time impact factor (IF), 46 were Springer publications. This brings the total number of Springer journals with IFs to 1,539, many of which are published on behalf of Springer’s society partners. In addition, the growth in citations among Springer journals was also impressive, with 86 percent of the portfolio’s  journal titles having increased their citations. Finally, 55 percent of journals increased their impact factors, another indication of the quality and reach of Springer’s journal publications.

SpringerPlus now indexed in Scopus and PubMed Central

Springer to collaborate with Scion on open access journal 
January 17, 2013

Starting in January 2013, Springer and Scion, a New Zealand Crown Research Institute, will cooperate to publish the New Zealand Journal of Forestry Science. As of Volume 43, Issue 1, the journal will be part of the SpringerOpen portfolio.  As a fully sponsored open access journal, it will be freely available on www.nzjforestryscience.com and SpringerLink without subscription charges or registration barriers.

Springer to convert two journals in high energy physics to open access

The SCOAP3 consortium (Sponsoring Consortium for Open Access Publishing in Particle Physics), which aims to convert journals in high energy physics to open access, has chosen two Springer journals to participate in the initiative.  They are the Journal of High Energy Physics, published for the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA - Trieste, Italy), and the European Physical Journal C, published with Società Italiana di Fisica. The selection is the result of an open and transparent tender process run by CERN for the benefit of SCOAP3, in which journal quality, price and publishing services were taken into account.
