The Polls Are Still Open For Smackdown Voting
It's fun to watch the voting of the Samir vs. BoSacks Smackdown. It has always been a fun dialog between two passionate professionals. Clearly print isn't going to go away and just as clearly digital continues to gather more and more market share. And if it isn't yet, digital will soon will be the predominate way that people read.
On that note Adobe released this week some interesting data including:
- Delivery of 150 million digital publications globally since the launch of DPS in March of 2011
- A 3X increase in unique monthly readers for DPS-created apps from October 2013 to October 2012
- An average of 50 minutes per month spent in a DPS app as compared to 40 minutes per issue for a printed magazine (print statistics come from GfK MRI and are from the fall of 2012)
So, there is no turning back now. And a thought occurs to me when judging this event and voting on the smackdown conversation. Does anyone else see the irony in the fact that the only way you can vote is by a digital process? Doesn't that just add to the conclusion that BoSacks has been right all along?
