Access Intelligence to Acquire Folio Publisher Red 7 Media
Access Intelligence, the Rockville, Md.-based business-to-business media company, announced today it is acquiring Norwalk, Conn.-based Red 7 Media, publisher of Folio magazine and Audience Development, among other event and media industry brands.
The deal is expected to close Friday, according to AI's min, which along with Folio will comprise two of the core brands in a new Media and Event Marketing Group. The new division will be led by current Red 7 Media CEO Kerry Smith, who will also be a senior vice president at Access Intelligence.
Smith says the integration will "provide Red 7 with deep resources and capabilities that will enable us to accelerate our growth strategies," while Access Intelligence CEO Don Pazour sees Red 7's products as a natural extension of current strengths.
"The ability to round out our leading position in the consumer magazine market with Red 7's events, online communities and a leading magazine while expanding into the dynamic events business is a truly exciting prospect for Access Intelligence, our employees and customers," he is quoted in Folio as saying.
min editor-in-chief Steve Cohn will continue to helm the weekly min newsletter. Steve Smith, min's digital editor, will also retain his role reporting for min and minonline.
In addition to Audience Development and Folio, Red 7 Media's brands include the magazines Event Marketer, Event Design, Best Events, and Expo, as well the conferences Event Marketing Summit, Best Event Expos, Event Design Summit, the Folio Show and Audience Development Show.
