Arizona Highways Wins Best Travel Magazine Award
Arizona Highways magazine was named the Best Monthly Travel Magazine by the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) Foundation in the 17th Annual Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism Competition.
"This award recognizes the truly outstanding job the magazine does in presenting the state to people who love Arizona," says Arizona Highways Editor Bob Early. "We cover the outback - the mountains and deserts, the rivers and lakes - the small towns and the out-of-the-way places, the Indian reservations and the Wild West history. Each month we take readers on a back road adventure, on a special scenic hike and on a great weekend getaway. And we do all this with compelling stories and, of course, unrivaled landscape photographs. The magazine, which is operated by the Arizona Department of Transportation, influences more than $400 million in tourism spending annually, and it accomplishes that without any direct tax support and without advertising."
The award will be presented at a gala celebration in June in Arlington, Virginia at which time winners will be recognized for setting the standards and the pace for travel writers.
Arizona Highways has approximately 335,000 subscribers in every state and in 122 other countries.
