Boulder, Colo. — In conjunction with Movember — a global men’s health charity engaging men to grow mustaches in November to raise awareness and funds for cancer research — Skiing Business has launched the Stache Dash challenge. Designed as a ski-industry effort to help beat cancers affecting men, the challenge is open to industry brands, retailers, athletes, sales reps, resorts and media.
The team that raises the most money will be crowned at the Skiing Business Industry Awards party on Jan. 31, 2013, in Denver. Big names in the industry including Columbia Sportswear, Dakine, Nordica, Black Diamond, Salomon and Head have already formed Stache Dash teams and begun raising funds.
So far, more than $5,000 has been raised — 17 industry teams are part of the Skiing Business challenge.
“The Skiing Business Stache Dash was conceived last year while talking with ski-industry brands already participating in Movember. We thought why not try to rally everyone and organize a competition,” said Ryan Dionne, Skiing Business editor.
Movember aims to forever change the face of men’s health through the power of the mustache, by raising awareness and funds for prostate and testicular cancer initiatives. Since 2003, more than 1.9 million participants have raised nearly $300 million dollars for the cause, with official Movember campaigns taking place in 21 countries. Movember is a registered 501(c)(3) charity.
