Group President Mary Berner Leaves Fairchild
Mary Berner resigned from her post as group president of Fairchild Publications—a division of Condé Nast Publications—in January, on the heels of a company reorganization last fall. A company statement said she was leaving to “pursue other business opportunities.”
As a result of the corporate revamp, Berner, who was a 10-year veteran of the company, was no longer reporting to S.I. Newhouse Jr., chairman of Advance Publications—Condé Nast’s and Fairchild’s parent company. Instead the restructuring left her reporting to Condé Nast CEO Charles H. Townsend.
Berner commented, “I have been running my own division for the last several years, and after recent conversations regarding the new structure of Condé Nast, I came to the conclusion that it was an appropriate time for me to pursue career opportunities outside of the company,” she said.
Fairchild products Jane, Details and Cookie will now report to Townsend, while other Fairchild magazines will report to Mitchell Fox, group president of Condé Nast Publications.
