Penton Media Announces Three Senior Management Appointments
(Press Release) NEW YORK, NY - July 7, 2010 - Sharon Rowlands, CEO of Penton Media, announced today the appointment of three senior executives to the Penton management team all focused on growth initiatives. The appointments are:
- Brad Mehl, as vice president, audience development and research. Mr. Mehl was most recently vice president of ThomasNet.com, a leading online destination that connects manufacturing buyers and sellers, where he was responsible for audience marketing, partnerships, product development, and analytics.
- Nino Tasca, as vice president, Internet technology. Mr. Tasca, digital media expert and experienced technology executive, formerly of Ziff Davis, will contribute his knowledge on both the development and operational side of technology to further enhance Penton's digital capabilities.
- Mike Hancock, as director, international sales. Mr. Hancock was most recently head of international sales for Reed Business Information (RBI). Based in London, Mr. Hancock will lead Penton's independent international sales representatives and seek new relationships around the world.

"Brad, Nino, and Mike will play important roles in advancing the ball in these areas. Penton has had a good first half in 2010, and we are full steam ahead in growth mode both organically and through acquisitions."
Audience Development is key to product development and speed to market
"Audience development is no longer just about collecting names," said Ms. Rowlands. "It is about finding the right people at the right times with the right products. More than anything, Penton needs to constantly engage audiences and help our clients market their products and services. Brad's experience will serve us well."
Mr. Mehl, who will report to Warren N. Bimblick, senior vice president, strategy and business development, has also led marketing and business development functions in different divisions at LexisNexis, where he helped accelerate online revenue and audience growth at two key business units. At Penton, he will also lead the research group and web analytics department.
He was also marketing director at CDNOW, a leading retailer of music on the Internet (and now part of Amazon.com), and held positions in circulation marketing at Time Inc. He began his career in brand planning/market research at Saatchi and Saatchi Advertising. He holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS from Cornell University. He will be based at the New York headquarters.
Digital product development needs speed and innovation

Having an online product development strategy and process that allows us to be fast and innovative in the creation of online products is a must in delivering the content and connections needed by our audiences," said Ms. Rowlands.
Mr. Tasca brings over a decade of experience in Internet technology to his position at Penton. During his career, he has held executive responsibility within the technology sector at the development, operational, and strategic management levels. Mr. Tasca most recently served as the Co-Founder and CTO of Meme Networks, a technology based company that builds exclusive membership clubs for enthusiasts in niche categories. Previously, he held the position of Internet CTO for Radio Free Europe, where he led the Internet product and technology team for 22 web sites, each in a unique language. Mr. Tasca has also served as Director, Internet Technology at Ziff Davis Media.
Mr. Tasca holds a MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS from Lehigh University. He will report to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Jasmine Alexander and will be based at the company's New York headquarters.
